Canadian films’ share of the Canadian box office decreased from 3.3% in 2023 to 2.8% in 2024, and then to 1.7% in 2025.

In 2024, the total number of new release feature films playing in theatres in Canada reached a 10-year high of 949, and continued to increase in 2025, reaching 962. Canadian new-release films’ share of total new release in Canadian theatres increased from 14.0% to 14.9% in 2024, before falling slightly to 14.6% in 2025.
